In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.

*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship - Psycho-Oncology

The MSK APP Fellowship Background

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's (MSK) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship program provides Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants the opportunity to train at one of the top cancer centers in the United States. This Fellowship Program began over 40 years ago in Hospice and Palliative Care with one APP Fellow and now accepts over fifteen APP Fellows in six distinct disciplines. The Fellows are mentored by an interdisciplinary team of experienced oncology clinicians serving patients from around the world.

The MSK APP Fellowship Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an oncology-intensive postgraduate academic program for the APP that promotes collaborative, high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate patient-centered care to a diverse patient population in alignment with the institutional mission of MSK. The MSK APP Fellow will participate in clinical skills practicums, research, didactic learning, and clinical rotations on medical and surgical oncology and consultative services. Upon graduation from the Fellowship, the APP will be proficient in the delivery of exceptional comprehensive care of the oncology patient.

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship - Psycho-Oncology

The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Advanced Practice Provider Psycho-Oncology fellowship is to promote comprehensive, patient-specific care for the psychiatry patients in the adult oncology population. The APP fellow will train in psycho-oncology practices through an educational context and autonomously manage psychosocial and psychiatric issues in complex medical oncology patients. The goal of this fellowship is to provide comprehensive training throughout the medical oncology practices and the associated interdisciplinary teams to instill a competent APP in this specialty area.

The program consists of rotations in the inpatient and outpatient Psycho-Oncology, Supportive Care, and Geriatric services at MSK, and a specialty rotation with VNSNY for Hospice and Palliative Care. APP fellows have synchronous and asynchronous weekly didactic education, present case studies, participation in multiple conferences, and complete a quality improvement project. Mentors for the APP fellows will include the fellowship co-directors and clinical site coordinators, experienced oncology APPs, pharmacists, pathologists, and attending physicians. This will allow for a comprehensive educational experience for the APP training in medical oncology with a psycho-oncology focus.

Clinical Fellow responsibilities will include:

• Obtaining patient health histories
• Performing comprehensive physical assessments
• Recommending and analyzing laboratory and diagnostic studies
• Responding to behavioral emergencies in the inpatient setting as part of a behavioral rapid response team
• Formulating and implementing treatment plans
• Coordinating patient care
• Evaluating the patient's response to treatment plans

You are a highly motivated critical thinker with a strong desire to care for a diverse adult population. You are interested in utilizing comprehensive physical assessments and research to improve outcomes for cancer patients. You are empathetic, resourceful, communicate well, and enjoy working inter-professionally. You are flexible in your approach and demeanor, to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances. You are effective at forging therapeutic relationships with patients and constructive relationships with co-workers. You can work effectively in a sometimes-complicated environment, and able to take initiative.

You are seeking a fellowship position in an environment that fosters mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Applicants must be trained at the master's level as an:

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Family Nurse Practitioner

Physician Assistant

All applicants must:

• Have current New York State RN and NP licenses, or PA license and appropriate NP/PA board certification
• Be graduates of an accredited Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician Assistant program in the United States
