The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development and execution of growth plans designed to increase market share / utilization of hospital services and enhance relationships that yield profitable growth for the organization. The position will utilize available data sources to identify prospective partners, collaborate with leadership to refine tactics, and monitor impact on strategic initiatives.
Essential Job Outcomes & Functions
Utilizes market data to propose business growth plans designed to exceed growth targets for all key services, both inpatient and outpatient, for assigned hospital (Miller Children's & Women's Hospital or Long Beach Medical Center). Datasets include, but not limited to: hospital marketshare, utilization forecasts, internal service line datasets and external network activity.
Collaborates with Marketing Department, Service Line Leadership and other colleagues to execute on tactics within approved business growth plans with the goal of exceeding defined growth targets for assigned hospital. Examples include: facilitating new physician agreements, organizing business development events, and implementing services that increase access to care and yield increased hospital market share. Facilitates reoccurring meetings with Service Line Leadership and other internal stakeholders to review status of business growth plans, address challenges, and secure growth opportunities.
Monitors impact of business growth plans by evaluating market activity and service line growth dashboards, then provides concise summaries to leadership regarding trends, lessons learned, and prospective opportunities.
Retains existing business from established accounts. Facilitates reoccurring Joint Operating Committee meetings and other executive meetings with key external groups. Tracks key lessons learned and works collaboratively with appropriate leadership to address in a timely manner.
Assists service lines in developing business cases to substantiate purchases, new programs, and other items requiring financial support with the goal of ensuring a positive return on investment. Helps perform due diligence by reviewing internal and external data, providing an assessment of the relevant competitive environment, and gathering input from physicians regarding the proposed service's impact on patient care.
Encourages Physician Liaisons to support execution of growth tactics by communicating approved messaging, identifying targets and sharing best practices.
Documents conversations with external organizations in the Relationship Management Tool and summarizes information for service line leaders.
Performs other duties as assigned.
