Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor
The LPMHC is assigned to the Substance Treatment Services Clinic but is based on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (7C) at the VA medical center. The incumbent is an expert in the assessment, diagnosis and best practices for the treatment of Veterans with SUD and functions in an advisory and consultation role throughout the hospital. The incumbent is primarily responsible for assessing and providing brief treatment to Veterans with Substance use Disorder (SUD) related admissions to 7C. The 7C/STS LPMHC has knowledge and mastery of the fundamentals of the psychotherapy process which includes defining patient/family problems and maintaining an effective therapeutic relationship. The LPMHC will develop and formulate a brief inpatient SUD related treatment plan by identifying the Veteran's stren
