Social Worker (Suicide Prevention)
The Suicide Prevention Social Worker may be assigned to one or a combination of settings requiring similar qualifications. The Suicide Prevention Social Worker provides a continuum of care encompassing individual, group, couple and family counseling, demonstrating possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. The Social Worker in the Suicide Prevention Program performs specialized care for Veterans in acute psychiatric crisis. They are responsible for coordinating care for Veterans at elevated risk for suicide, to include documentation. The social worker will serve to facilitate implementation of suicide prevention strategies within the medical center to help ensure that all appropriate measures are being taken to prevent suicide in our patient population.
