You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates, through behavior:
Develops comprehensive training programs for all organ recovery team members to include identified readings, lectures and testing plans to ensure competency. Continually develops and revises training materials for all training plans. Revisions include new concepts and/or procedures within the organ and tissue donation process.
Monitors organ recovery team members to ensure successful progression through the orientation program. This includes regular meetings to ensure staff are successfully completing the lecture, exam phase and are documenting skills development events.
Develops, implements and monitors new organ recovery team member orientation to OurLegacy. This includes internal and external meetings with donation partners to better understand relationships within the donation and transplantation community.
Makes recommendations to senior managers and managers regarding academic and technical competency of staff training. Recommendations may include continued training, re-training or termination of employment due to inability to demonstrate required competencies.
Develops and implements programs for organ recovery team member development to include internal training, guest lectures, involvement in webinars or other professional development opportunities (customer services, leadership, supervisor training, etc.). This will include bimonthly clinical conferences to review interesting cases with pertinent learning points
Develops and implements training to ensure staff knowledge of new organ recovery policies, new processes or new developments in the donation community.
Monitors all staff participation in and completion of all initial and continuing opportunities. This includes ensuring all training and professional development opportunities are documented and available for review. Provides performance feedback to staff and re-training and performance improvement plans as needed.

Qualifications - External
What You Will Need:
3 years’ experience in an organ and tissue procurement organization, including field experience as an Organ Procurement Coordinator.
CurrentCertified Procurement Transplant Coordinator by the American Board for Transplant Certification
Valid Florida Driver’s License, Class D or E, and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy
Ability to multi-task
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work flexible extended hours providing 24-hour call coverage
Ability to work independently in a stressful environment
Strong planning / organizational skills
Decision making aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to travel within a 10-county service area
Must have dependable transportation
Extensive critical care experience
Trauma Center experience
Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field
Public speaking experience
Teaching / Precepting experience
5 years recent experience in donor management and organ allocation with a CMS certified OPO
The Organ Recovery Training Coordinator (ORTC) excels in the organ procurement coordinator (OPC) position and is responsible for all OPC and Clinical Donation Associates (CDA) professional development activities and initiatives at OurLegacy. The ORTC collaborates with the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations and Manager of Training and Professional Development (MTPD) to implement training programs. The ORTC must have mastery of OurLegacy policies; State of Florida laws; Federal laws and regulations; and industry organ donation standards and ensure compliance with same.
The ORTC develops and delivers OPC, FSC, and CDA role training in the standards, requirements, practices and principles of organ donation. The training goal is to ensure each employee is competent to facilitate their duties independently. The ORTC evaluates gaps in employee training and development and creates strategies enabling employees to achieve their potential. The ORTC applies the principles of adult learning and education when developing programs.
