The Lead Medical Supply Technician (MST) in the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) is considered to be at the advanced performance level with respect to sterile processing. The Lead MST (SPS) works in support of the SPS management team. They support the decontamination, preparation, and distribution of the hospital's critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME). They prioritize and distribute the workload among fellow MST (SPS), GS-0622-3/4/5/6, to complete tasks in a timely manner. Duties included but not limited to: Leads a unit or team of employees performing work at the GS-6 level or below. Provides guidance and technician direction for accomplishing the work of the unit or team. Ensures work assignments of employees in the unit or team are carried out. Works with the Chief and Assistant Chief. SPS. in the assignment of functions to team members in order to meet routine and unusual deadlines and priorities. Distributes and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, job specialization and/or capabilities of individual. Is a working Lead Technician, responsible for filling in and for distributing the workload in case of personnel shortages. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. The tour of duty varies within the 24 hours Monday - Friday, with the exception of Holidays. The hours may be extended to meet educational needs/service goals. May be required to work weekends, irregular work hours, and extended hours. Will be required to be on call for off duty tours.
