This position is in the Surgical Specialty Clinics Omaha. The RN clinic nurse will be under the supervision of the Surgical Specialty Clinic Nurse Manager. The Surgical Specialty Clinic RN is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care-based on specialty and provider needs. The Orthopedic Surgical Case Manager (CM) functions include but not limited to the coordination of care from the initial visit to post-operative care. Coordinates care preoperatively that includes smoking cessation, weight loss, and dental visits pre the prerequisites for joint surgery. Responsible for the coordination of all systems/services required for an organized, multidisciplinary team approach, and assures quality, cost efficient care for an assigned patient caseload. Provides patient education, telephone triage, returns patient calls in a prompt, timely, manner to promote increased patient satisfaction. Ensuring accurate capturing of clinical data, requesting outside records, making phone calls to outside facilities, reviewing VHA medical records, etc. Provides back up responsibilities for the surgical specialty clinics and other surgical Case Managers as assigned. Promotes quality customer service to both internal and external customers in a positive, professional, and respectful manner. Previous experience as a surgical case manager, operating room experience, or outpatient surgery is preferred. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm, some Saturdays possible.
