JOB SUMMARY The primary function of the Supply Chain Senior Application Engineer is to engineer and configure technical application driven solutions for the Baylor Scott & White Supply Chain, which encompasses nearly $2Billion of annual product purchases. This role serves as to diagnose application driven operational issues, engineer solutions and configure application driven workflow changes to address the business needs. These are software driven workflow configuration changes including ETL development and SQL query development, but does require expertise in a specific programming language. The role will investigate user reported issues and work to resolve internally or with the vendor. Effective execution of primary functions require management and resolution to end user issue related support tickets, monitoring and resolving workflow related issues, testing and coordinating downtimes and upgrades (this may include periodic after hours testing/validation), demonstrated strategic thinking and problem solving by using appropriate information to diagnose problems and identify solutions and managing customer relations by fostering productive and effective relationships with business users. WHAT IS EXPECTED (Essential Functions) - Field end user supply chain management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) related support questions and work with end users to resolve issues or requests with a focus on identifying root cause of issues and implementing solutions to avoid repeat occurrences
- Setup and retire users of the ERP and related SCM systems with access to needed modules and conduct routine audits to ensure appropriate levels of access
- Steward and maintain requisitioning approval levels and associate approval matrices
- Work closely with third parties to support business to business (B2B) activities ensuring systems, processes and interfaces effectively support negotiation, communication and trade
- Stay updated with ERP vendor on new system functionality/releases and guide implementation/training with business and technical teams
- System setup and configuration for upgrades/ implementation of new functionality
Drives user acceptance testing, business validation during production implementation, and post production support - Prioritize and carry out project management functions on multiple SCM projects without direction and drive projects to completion with a focus on ensuring user acceptance and deployment adoption
- Create test plan, test cases, training plans, procedural documents, and user guides
- Drive change management process from current to future state with applicable departments and measure effectiveness of new solutions
- Research and recommend best industry standards and practices where applicable
- Monitoring integrations and working to resolve any issues relating to integration failures
- Cross train peers of any new or existing processes to ensure proper coverage of daily or periodic activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES - Experience with Agile and Scrum project management methodologies
- Experience with Change management and working with cross-functional change control processes
- Experience utilizing (reading and writing) SQL, to investigate data and system related issues within relational databases and to provide data extracts to support customer and business needs
- Strong understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and business analysis
- Problem solving system processes and strong knowledge of data flow and integration
- Working knowledge of Healthcare Supply Chain processes preferred
- Ability to quickly learn new software and applications
- Much of this role is support related so strong customer service skills are a must
