You Will Be Responsible For:
Facilitate modification to clinical documentation supporting the clinical level of severity rendered
Support timely, accurate and complete documentation of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes
Educate the medical staff and other clinicians using a variety of teaching methods.
Provide orientation to newly credentialed physicians.
Collaborate with the HIM inpatient coding staff to assist their understanding/clarification of documentation leading to appropriately assigning the DRG representing the patient’s severity of illness/resource consumption.
What You Will Need:
Active and current RN license
Must have at least five years of nursing experience
Nursing experience in critical care areas preferred
Experience in case management or quality areas preferred
A position utilizing clinical expertise to evaluate concurrent documentation and level of severity of illnesses delivered to patients. Thorough extensive interaction with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, the CDS will be responsible for facilitating modifications to overall quality and completeness of medical record documentation. This will support the appropriate clinical picture/level of severity of the patient while providing accurate and complete information that is utilized in the profiling of outcomes reporting of both the hospital and the physicians. This role will interface with management and key physician leaders at the hospital at it prepares strategically for a competitive and solid future in today’s healthcare market.
