Registered Nurses in the Cancer Center Float Pool department at UC Davis Medical Center provide care to adult and pediatric patients with a variety of Ambulatory (medical surgical, critical care, emergent, perioperative) needs. Patient conditions include: benign and malignant hematologic and solid tumor diagnoses, seen within a variety of sub-specialties (Hematology and Medical Oncology, Gynecology Oncology, Pulmonary Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Thoracic Oncology, Urology). Patients may have a variety of medical and surgical needs.
The Comprehensive Cancer Center Float Case Management RNs with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Float Pool primarily support the departments of Adult Clinic, Bone Marrow Transplant, Radiation Oncology, and Supportive Oncology. and Comprehensive Cancer Center Urgent Care Clinic.
This position will include case managing a wide-range of oncology patients, duties to include but not limited to patient and family education, symptom management, telephone triage, surgery coordination (if assigned to surgical specialties).
Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
2 years of recent Adult Oncology experience in similar setting
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Possession of a current California RN license.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

Ability to work overtime, float to other areas and work weekends and holidays.
Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients and stand on feet over extended periods.
