The Provider will serve as an important part of the management team. The Behavioral Health Director/Coordinator provides day to day management of the behavioral health program and provides clinical care to the clients at the Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Center. The Director/Coordinator is responsible to the CMO for exercising each of several functions described in this position description and is accountable, for the delivery and quality of the behavioral health services provided to patients at the center and its satellites.
Assists with the establishment of behavioral health care standards and protocols for each service described in the BJHCHS health care plan and to ensure quality of services; to assist with development of BJHCHS behavioral health plan with the assistance of staff to ensure that all goals and objectives are outlined.
Be responsible for the day-today management of clients care in a manner that will ensure effective and efficient performance.
Operate within the parameters of a written position description that complies with BJHCHS policies, rules and regulations.
Maintain all Federal initiatives pertinent to client care and participate in the process of budget development and in financial management decisions as they affect clinical activities.
Participate regularly in administrative meetings as a member of BJHCHS management team.
CLINICAL MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
Supports and maintains the competence and quality of all clinical support staff.
Consults with members of the provider staff on clinical issues or coordinates appropriate continuing education and in-service training.
Assures safety and adequate maintenance of BJHCHS medical records.
Periodically review client health records for accuracy and completeness.
Provide direction for Behavioral Health Program staff, including providing guidance and direction, training, evaluating performance, initiating corrective action.
Conducts or supervises an ongoing quality assurance program.
Provides behavioral health care services to clients at BJHCHS and its satellites as scheduled.
PROFESSIONAL LIASION FUNCTIONS:
Establish links with public and private clinical referral sources.
Consult with psychiatry whenever required or clinically relevant.
Assumes an active membership role in national, state and local behavioral health care society.
Conducts or coordinates activities designed to mobilize community resources behind integrated health care promotion.

Masters or Doctorate Degree
Have excellent communication skills. Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job, such as clearly communicating with multiple personnel and clients. Must be able to handle stressful situations, good organizational skills necessary. Ability to work effectively with clients and co-workers.
Have the ability to operate and perform basis computer skills and documentation to support the Behavioral Health Department.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
Valid license to practice behavioral health counseling in the state of South Carolina.
